Candlelight Vigil 1: 1,000 Dead Soldiers 9 September 2004
Oh yes I can
« Previous

Over 1,000 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq since we went back there based on the lies of the Bush administration. Tonight, there were over 1,000 candlelight vigils all over the US, organized by Move On. I attended the one in the panhandle of Golden Gate park, thanks to a poke from a friend. It was reverent, somber, and emotional.

San Francisco is a lefty place. So much so that sometimes it's hard to get everyone on the same page. Every rally has the Free Mumia / Palestine / Love / Aliens Talk To Me contingent muddying up the water. But tonight everyone was quiet, everyone knew why they were here, and everyone held a candle and prayed for some way out before another thousand die.
