At the foot of Montmartre, Paris. If there's one rule I've learned about photography in public places, it's look behind you. Wherever you go, whatever you're shooting, every once in a while, turn 180 degrees and see what's behind you. In Montmartre, there's a huge hill called Place St. Pierre. At the top of the hill is a carousel, which was made famous by a scene in Amelie. As Heather and I and a hundred other tourists looked up the hill, I remembered my rule and turned around and was treated to a young kid mugging for his mom. Priceless. Someday I'd like to do a series of photos at monuments, looking the wrong way. |
