I know, I know. Just when I say "no more dog photos," this guy comes along. Today Heather and I went to the Chihuahua Cha Cha. It's a monthly event where us small dog people take over a dog run on Corona Heights. I know, it's funny. Go ahead, laugh. But it's organized by a woman with a flaming skull tattooed on her thigh who brings a dog named Bullet Love, so, really, don't snicker too loud. The greatest thing about the Cha Cha is the wide variety of people who come. I expected blue haired old ladies, but it really is everyone: Young and old, the Buena Vista Birkenstocked and the Castro club kids, every color in the rainbow. We are our own bizarro melting pot, and we all have small dogs. I was honestly trying to break my dog photo streak here on Ephemera, but I couldn't resist. This guy's name is Magic and, in addition to his Doggles and jaunty cap, he also had pink fingernails. Er, fingerclaws. Whatever. I asked permission of his owner and started taking pictures. Often, when I'm shooting someone, I'll make this joke because it makes people smile. So, almost by reflex, I said: "Growl like a tiger." And, I swear to God, he growled like a tiger. Well, maybe it was more of a tigerly yawn. Kind of a roar. But, still, it was mighty, and right on cue. That dog is magic. |
